Outdoor structural design
Objective: To cover a large natural artifact in a museum’s historic outdoor courtyard.
My contributions: structural design; project management; spec design for the fabrication team; hire masons/painters; procure materials; coordinate process with museum security staff, as well as CFO to ensure project remained within budget; install finishing/decorative touches.
Concept: While the museum’s Chief Curator had suggested that I create a design to complement a temporary exhibit, I kindly proposed a design that would be timeless and appear as though it had always existed within the historic courtyard. My design was approved, and upon completion, it blended in perfect harmony with the existing architecture and landscape design.
